The
Finke River is one of the world's oldest watercourses. The Finke flows south from here for 650km to be lost in the sands of the
Simpson Desert. Over many millions of years, the river and its tributaries have carved out the rugged landscape it passes through. The Western Aranda name for the
Finke River is Tjoritja urlpaya.
