Early historic border marker between NSW and VIC, recently restored (~2004) Lies close to the source of the River Murray. Does require a little adventure to find it as there is only walking access to this spot and a few hills to climb, but
well worth the effort. It was a little hard to find as there has been a lot of regrowth after the fires making the undergrowth quite dense.
2013 update. More regrowth shows the
resilience of the Aussie bush but further obscuring the Cairn. Head east off Cowombat Track at its closest point to the end of the Black-Allen Line. Here a small pile of stones - 0.4m high - marks a walking track. Bush bash due east avoiding large deviations off course on
Brumby tracks. Reach and follow
Murray River to its source and then its 22.5 chains up
Forest Hill bearing 127 degrees to the restored Cairn.
