The turn to the
Red Rock camping area is just a few kilometres south of
Byfield. Located in
Byfield State Forest less than a kilometre from
Byfield Road along a
well graded gravel road, it's sites are arranged on a gentle slope and are suitable for smaller caravans, campers and motor homes. There is a walk in
camping area.
Tables and wood fired barbecues are distributed throughout the
camp sites. Composting
toilets and non potable water is provided. The surface of the
camping area is grass/dirt with the area is mostly open with isolated shade. Sites are clearly defined but unnumbered. 10 vehicle
camp sites and five walk-in tent
camp sites. Domestic dogs are only permitted at
Red Rock camping area and must be kept on a leash and under control at all times. Generators may be operated only between 8am and 7pm providing they have a sound rating of 65 decibels (2.0Kva) or less.
Red Rock is particularly popular during school holidays. Book your camping permit
well in advance, and please note that sites are occupied on a first-in, first-choice basis.
Mobile phone coverage is unreliable.
There are a couple of walks commencing and finishing at the
picnic area.
