Good day all couple of mates and I are heading to
Birdsville races in September. We live in
Sydney and knowq it will take at least two days drive. We only have about 12 days and want to maximise this as best as possible. I was thinking bout driving straight to Birsdville for the races which are on the 7/9 then heading off across the simpson on the 8/9 and once on other side start heading back to
Sydney for arrival 14/9. Does this sound feasible?
Other ideas put to us is to take our time to Birdville races spent a few days there (Includes venturing into Simpson for a night) then take time heading
home back via
Birdsville.
I,d be interested in some ideas out there? Must see/visit etc?

Agree, not enough time to do races and Simpson.
Tibooburra, Innaminka , Cameron's Cnr,
Birdsville track,
Walkers Crossing,
Coongie Lakes, a night in the dessert to get a feel for the Simpson plenty of
places to explore in that timeframe

Innamincka / Cameron's cnr take your time to get
home!!
