One of several free campsites in the
Bay of Fires conservation area about 15 km north of Saint Helens. Access by 2wd, with bitumen road, then gravel tracks to sandy sites.
Suitable for all camping setups, but very T ight for big rigs.
Swimcart Beach is the best dog friendly beach of the several areas in
Bay of Fires with about 500 m of designated dune camping. Demand for campsites here can be strong, especially during peak periods. Patience, timing and a little luck are often required to jag the perfect place. Sometimes you may need to
camp on the western side of the dunes to wait for the perfect position.
Whilst the water is beautiful, the surf can be a little rough and might be a bit much for
young children. There may be
sharks. Surf fishing and walking along
the beach are popular activities.
No power.
No water.
Dog friendly.
Max stay 28 days.
Drop
toilets are available.A
blackwater dump station is located on the corner of
Tully and
Young streets in
St Helens. Please do not dump chemical
toilet contents in the
campground toilets. There are no rubbish
bins provided and you will need to take your rubbish with you to dispose of properly.
