One of 4 camping areas in the Mt Moffatt section of the
Carnarvon National Park. High-clearance 4WDs are recommended and are essential to get around the park. The Dargonelly
Rock Hole area is accessible for high-clearance camper trailers and off-road caravans or buses. This is the only
camping area where large buses are permitted.
The
campground is a semi-open area that is flat with plenty of large trees. Alongside you'll find a permanent
rock hole in Marlong Creek. The close proximity of the
rock holes allows for keen campers to have a relaxing swim, although caution is required as the depth of water can change dramatically within the
rock holes. It is recommended that no jumping and diving into the water occurs for safety reasons.
Facilities include a tap for water, a pit
toilet, and communal fire rings. No
bins.
At an altitude of over 700 m winter nights can be sub zero and even the birds will come up to the fire to keep warm.
A camping permit is required. Book online as sites are limited to 30 people.
