Welcome to Redesdale! We‘re a small town (299 at the last Census) in central Victoria situated 90 minutes north west of Melbourne and 40 minutes south east from Bendigo. We’re part of the City of Greater Bendigo. Check us out on a map: we‘re, literally, the centre of Victoria (you can visit the nearby marker!).We’re pretty proud of our tiny town. We go back right back to the 1850’s, when Redesdale was on the Cobb & Co route to the Bendigo goldfields. The Redesdale Hotel in the main street is a fabulous reminder of that era.In 1868 the Redesdale steel lattice-truss bridge was built across the Campaspe River. The trusses for the bridge were originally imported for a river crossing in suburban Hawthorn. The ship caught fire and sank in Hobsons Bay; but the trusses were subsequently salvaged and used to erect the Redesdale bridge. It’s worth a look.If you’re a visitor, there’s plenty to do in the district. Check out the local “things to do”. Explore Lake Eppalock, the Coliban and Campaspe rivers or our amazing granite landscape. We’ve got some fabulous B&B’s in the area: the perfect way to kick back and relax or drop your things and get out there exploring!We’re a welcoming and inclusive community, with our community hall and recreation reserve hosting many community activities. The Bridge Connection — our local bi-monthly newsletter — will keep you up to date on the district news.Redesdale is surrounded by the picturesque small townships of Mia Mia, Sutton Grange, and Barfold, all of which have flourishing vineyards, as well as olives, walnuts and more traditional farming industries that started (and continue) back in the 19th century with world class merino fleece.Want to know more?
