The memorial in Mia Mia marks the site of
camp 6 of the VEE (Victorian Exploring Expedition of Robert O'Hara Burke and
John Wills), otherwise known as Burke & Wills expedition. The area contains a site marker
plaque and a sculptured area featuring a
plaque with an excerpt from Ludwig Becker`s Diary. The expedition party spent 2 nights here. At the time, the site was land occupied by Westblade's hotel. They took a day off to repack the wagons and repair their equipment after a gruelling week of travel and camping in the elements in the wet and cold.The inscription reads;
