Lake Eppalock is located on the Campaspe River, near
Bendigo in central Victoria. It was constructed between 1960 and 1964 to provide irrigation from the Campaspe River, and to supply water to
Bendigo. The general area includes caravan parks, picnic areas and public boat ramps.
The Kimbolton Recreational Area features all-access
toilet facilities and an all-access barbecue and seating.
No fires are permitted on the foreshore.
There are no rubbish facilities at the lake. Please take out what you bring. Please
check website for latest updates.
Geologically and topographically, it is an excellent
dam site. The curved
embankment, 700 metres long, stands 47 metres high and contains more than 800,000 cubic metres of earth and
rock. Three spillways cater for the overflow: a concreted main spillway which runs down to the Campaspe River, and two higher grassed spillways for exceptionally large floods.
