Dennes Point is located at the northern most point of North
Bruny Island. It is connected to the main tourist to the south by two
well kept gravel roads thus making for a very pleasant circuit trip for the more adventurous.
The town is hilly so provides great
views over the waters of the D'Entrecasteaux and the Derwent estuary. The town had a
population of about 250. The area was first settled in the 1840s with a ferry service established in 1847 when the area was known as Kelly's Point after a pioneer ship captain.
The bays to the north east of this part of
Bruny Island are hist to a number of fish farms.
