Elizabeth Town is a small town on the Bass Highway near
Deloraine. With a
population of about 500 it is dissected by the highway. It has minimal tourist facilities. One
point of interest is that its name was changed to Elizabeth Town to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth II who called there on her visit to Australia in 1954.
To the south east, on the way to
Deloraine, the Christmas Hills Raspberry
Farm is located. Strawberries are grown under shelter with irrigation from a scenically arranged
dam. The main feature of the property is the restaurant and ice-cream
shop where one of the most popular flavours is raspberry.
