Situated on the northern reaches of the Tamar River, Beauty Point was originally established as the first deep-water port in the area. The port hosts Australia's National Institute for Maritime Studies. Its location and river frontage makes it popular for mariners and fascinating underwater creatures.
Seahorse World is dedicated to breeding and protecting these fascinating creatures and the unique Australian platypus and echidna can also be seen next door at Platypus House.
Nearby is
Narawntapu National Park, one of the best
places to view free-ranging wildlife in the state. Listen for the growls and screeches of Tasmanian devils.
It is almost a suburb of
Beaconsfield and is not far from several cool climate wineries that dot the landscape.
Beauty Point is about 40 kilometres and 40 minutes drive from
Launceston.
