The Wall in the Wilderness is a truly spectacular and beautiful sculptural work in progress by artist Greg Duncan. He has carved into a wall of beautiful huon pine at 3m high and over 100m in length. The project began in 2005 and is completely self-funded. The carved panels depict the history of the Central Highlands region, showing faces of people with great emotion as they carry out their harsh tasks - miners, hydro workers, pastoralists, indigenous people, pioneering timber harvesters etc.The wall is contained in a weather proof building.
