The
visitor centre at Lake St Clair marks the southern end of the Overland Track through the
Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. It is located at the lake edge at the southern end of the park.Lake St Clair was carved by glaciers and at 167 metres is the deepest natural lake in Australia. Walkers on the track either set out or complete their journey, that takes about eight days, at this point. Shorter walks are available in the Lake St Clair area. Walkers arrive or set out on their walk at the northern end of the lake. A ferry service supplies either the first or last link. The
visitor centre has extensive facilities including a restaurant, and the separate lodge offers accommodation,
toilets and a
picnic area.
