A favourite leisure spot for locals, Marshall
Rock Reserve has been the location for many community barbeques and picnics dating back as far as 1913. The reserve remains a great place for bushwalking, bird watching and viewing the
wildflowers and offers
free camping with some basic facilities including a
toilet, and a number of firepits. There are
two rocks here Marshall
Rock and
Gardeners Hill with the
campsite and
picnic area in the middle. There are 2 very easy short walk trails. From the top of Marshall
Rock you can see Lake McDermott, vast agricultural lands and even the
Bencubbin Wheatbins. The Reserve covers 1.4 square kilometres and is bounded by private farming land on every side.Marshall
Rock is eight kilometres from the town of
Bencubbin.
The rock was discovered in 1836. The wildflower season runs from June to October.
