For westbound travellers coming from
Birdsville on the QAA line, this turnoff to the north is a 60km bypass route that can be used if
Eyre Creek crossing on the QAA is impassible. This bypass will take you north to Goonamillera Crossing of the Eyre Creek and then back down the western side of the creek to rejoin the QAA line on the western side of the flooded crossing, just 1.5 km from the start of the detour on the eastern side.
This route also leads to the
Madigan Line, and Old
Annandale Ruins.
