Access is via a hardish surfaced clay 4WD track (if it hasn't rained too heavily) leading from the tar 550M NNE to a set of barchan dunes. Barchan dunes are rare in WA having their horns pointing in the direction of the prevailing winds (as opposed to the parabolic dunes everywhere else along the WA coast); here the strong late spring and early summer southerlies show up in their effects on the sand.
