HI Muddy.au
If they are travelling from
Buchan to
Jindabyne to Melb they will be going north, thru
Delegate etc via the
Bruthen-
Buchan road? or are travelling south.
Just a thought!
haven't done this way for some time ,so carn't advise on road condition but thought they might like to go in the right direction to
Melbourne!
cheers

That Barry Way /
Snowy River road is a magnificent, spectacular, very windy road. It can be very hairy even without a van.
I haven't been on it for a while, but lots and lots of corners are quite tight with blind turns, steep drops and very few barriers.
Unless they are very experienced at towing, then forget it IMHO.

Forgot to mention, an easier way is via
Bombala and Cann River. Longer but a lot less stressful.
Alternatively through Delgate to Orbost but it is winding too. There is a sign on that road that says something like "winding road 106km ahead". It's a much better road than the Snowy but you do get sick of left right left right left right.

Hell yes - tell the kids to go another way - we stumbled onto that road a few years bac......once in, going south, too late to try and go back - very narrow in many
places, sheer dropoffs and guard rails rarely encountered - for quite experienced tow drivers only in my view (and then only if you really had to)..... in many dodgy
places, I couldn't see how two vehicles could safely pass.

As said, this is a scenic route..good gravel road..but very narrow & windy. Full attention is required in getting safely past oncoming vehicles & speed should be kept down. I wrote a blog on this some time back. Still a great drive but the driver wont
see much scenery......oldbaz.

As mentioned a very scenic road but very narrow and winding, and if it is wet, it is extremely slippery in
places, and the last thing you want is a slippery road that is narrow and on the edge of a
cliff with no guard rail whilst towing.
