Pack your floaties...

Coming down to Birdsville should be ok but Brirdsville to Innaminka could be an issue.

Check on here for the current road conditions

We aren't leaving for about 6 weeks so I am not totally up to date but you might have to look at some detours

The best flights over Lake Eyre fly out of Birdsville. Make sure you hop on one of them.

or Central Eagle Aviation which can also be booked from the caravan park.

The costs from here are more than the flights from Marree but they are longer and you see more, Goyders Lagoon is as good an experience as the lake.

I was around the Corner country about 3 weeks ago and it was looking great. So much growth. There are also a lot of mice around in some places so do not leave anything open or food around especially at night.

Have a great trip and take it gently so you can see the country and not just the road ahead. Many of the roads I travelled had been graded/reconstructed but one or two still had bad washaways due to the rain.

If you have not already done so check the wheel bearings on your new to you trailer. Unless you know the history it is worth the hour or so to just make sure and repack them. Also worth taking a set of new bearings to suit. It is the most common problem with trailers and it makes it easy if you have a set with you and strike problems.

Have fun.

hi shedboy
alastiar has just given you the exact advice that i was going to
and this goes for everyone who buys s/hand whether it be camper/caravan/trailer or vehicle always have the wheel bearings re greased before you head off and dont get fooled by a grease cap thats full of grease as i have removed bearings that had a full cap of grease on the outside but there was very little left on the actual bearings themselves

also check camper/vehicle suspension u-bolts /shackle-pins and plates etc hitch bolts /jockey wheel bracket and clamp bolts
water/fuel tank support staps etc etc with a spanner not just a quick glance
that is the best insurance of a troubleless trip
do the hard yards in
your
back yard
and enjoy the trip
cheers barry

G'day Shedboy,

We have just returned from our trip to Windorah & have much information that may be helpful as we live in Toowoomba & you may travel some of the roads we did.
Contact my email address if you would like to know more as it would take me too long to type the info.

Regards,
Michael.
