Hi All,
We are heading down south towards Melbourne from Sydney and don't want to do the usual freeway drive so we thought that we would explore some stops along the way ie Wagga Wagga. We would like to end up in Melbourne as anyone got any suggessions. Also was thinking Mildura/Murray run but is that too far out of the way to get to melb or on the way home. Travelling with kids and dog

Try the run down the Olympic Way from Bathurst to Albury. Then from Wodonga, run along the Murray Valley Highway to Yarrawonga, then on to Benalla and follow the Midland/Melba Highways Via Bonny Doon and Yea into the Eastern Melbourne Suburbs at Lilydale.
That route takes you through some great country and includes a couple of wine regions as well.!l

We reccomend that way to people to as it has great family type roadside stops at Lake Nilacoote as well as lake Eildon .

For a shorter more fun way rather than turn off Hume at Benalla continue on to Euroa and on 3rd exit to Euroa take Creightons creek road thru to Yarck then to Yea. Plenty of dirt road opportunites as well via both these routes.

Hi there,
If possible either way make sure you get to Echuca if you have never been. So much to see and do, the sunsets on the river are wicked. I have stayed lots of time at the ''Maidens Inn'' caravan park in Moama(used to be called James Maiden). Right on the river, great facillities.
Stay safe,
Chris.
