To All.
I have left the sea for a land based job. We have moved to
Mount Isa.
Are the any other members in the area?
It would be nice to know of some
places to visit on my days off.
Cheers
Rob

I used to live there, apart from the venues in town ,
Fountain Springs,
Duchess,
Lake Moondarra, Lake Julius, and a great swimming and
picnic area where the Lake Julius road crosses the
Leichhardt River (East Branch) at S20 33.237 E139 45.087. Then there's Mary Kathleen , go pick up Maltese cross stones between Isa and
Cloncurry, approx location. S20 54.906 E139 52.787, if you type in some of those names in
PLACES you will get some info and locations .

20°49'37.43"S 139°54'43.61"E will be exact location of the crosses, in Google Earth, and if you keep fo;;owing that track you will find an
old mine train tunnel 4X4 Only plus some
old mine sites and
graves,

Rob, a must is to read "Mines in The Spinifex" by Geoff Blainey.
There is some good country around the Isa to explore.
Just some
places you can o with a little local knowledge are, The old mines of Kuridala/Mt Elliot (old Selwyn)/Lady Ella/Starra and Cobalt and Victoria mines in the Selwyn ranges.
The
graves of a lady and kids who perished on the Chatsworth rd because there wagon became bogged in the black soil and they starved to death.
Have a good one and use the road less travelled
