There are apparently 2 people buried here, both of them appear to be prospectors.
The first person buried here was one William Inglis, a prospector who died of suspected starvation, in the vicinity of Binaringa Soak, sometime between late 1908 and early 1909. His body was found on the 5th March 1909.
He was last seen in early October 1908, at Higginsville, when he advised prospector friends he was going to Binaringa Soak, and "30
miles further out" to do some prospecting.
Inglis' name was also sometimes written as Bill Ingles.
I have not been able to identify the location of Binaringa Soak (Misspelt as Bineringa in newspaper reports. Also spelt as Berringina Soak, and Binga Ringa Soak in some reports). The nearest location I can find for Binaringa Soak is the "head of Lake Cowan".
It's interesting that Binneringie Station is located near the head of
Lake Cowan, so it could be that "Bineringa" became "Binneringie".
The inquest regarding William Inglis' death was held on Friday 12th March 1909, and the link to Inglis' death report, and inquest, is below.
I have not been able to accurately identify the second person buried here, another source states the person is named Connell or O'Conlan.
I have identified a person named O'Connell who lived at Higginsville in the early 1900's, but I can find no record of his death or burial at Sunday Soak.
