A horror 24 hours to get through . A house full of relatives I don't have anything in common with . They sit around bored and can't wait to leave - I sit around bored and can't wait for them to leave . There's no cricket , in fact , there's NOTHING on TV . The stock makert's closed , it's too bloody hot and everyone's eaten too much . People give you hidious presents which you have to somehow pretend you love . You give people presents you are embarrassed with because you know they're crap . You give people entirely inappropriate presents that you would love to get yourself , and wonder why your mother in law looks a bit confused reading the instructions for her new exhaust jack .
The only thing to recommend it , is that the day after (if you survive ) is Boxing Day . Suddenly the sun is shining , the mangos taste even better , there's no relatives in sight , and there's cricket and the
Sydney Hobart race on TV . Still no stock market , but nothing is ever perfect .
Cheers and bah humbug ,
Willie .

Actually I thought it was an excellent analysis of everything Christmas has become in most of Western society and highlighted exactly what it shouldn't be - from both a religious and a social perspective...?

Hi Brian.
Merry Christmas .. and feel free ... I am not sure where I got it from but it has been with me since schooldays (pre 1961), so it has done a few
miles.
Cheers

Is it a troll? Maybe? But I doubt it.
Christmas is not a time of joy for all - for some the gaiety of others only serves to highlight their own isolation.

I know marriage problems go up around Christmas and I'll guess suicides do too - not everyone has your strength or family support at this time - consider, perhaps, a lot of single dads who may not even get to see their children on Christmas day, how about many elderly people who will spend this "family" time alone - it's not as simple as you may think....

Gee wizz that's sad Willie. If you don't like the relatives why spend the day with them. I don't have any family in this country apart from the wife and kids. We spend chrissy day at a friends house and have a most fantastic day and we are back there every new years eve, haven't you got any mates to visit.

Happy Chrissy Gramps ,
Tomorrow the Boss and I are off to The Margaret River and then up to
Perth to watch the Hopman Cup . I have to wrack up some brownie points so that I will be able to duck offf into the desert April - June 06.
I will be off the air for two weeks and I would ask that you and Nudie behave yoiurselves in that time . I don't want to hear any reports that you have upset anyone in my absence .
Cheers ,
Willie .

Willie,
You and the Boss have a great time. Make sure you do everything right to ensure your trip next year.
"you and Nudie behave yoiurselves" - bloody unlikely.
Nudie may have a New Year's resolution to be good but I've never kept one yet LOLOLOL. It's too much fun getting into mischief.
