Hi All
For the thousands of travellers around our great Nation, many are now following the fantastic
Silo Art Trail.
Within the last month, the small South Australian Mallee town of
Karoonda, launched its latest tourist attraction, which can only be described as brilliant.
Full credit to the town for getting behind this great project, and have sure made welcoming tourists to its town, from the
well kept gardens, free, yes that right, free charging station for mobile devices and great service from the local shops.
So if you are ever passing, please make sure that you visit this great town and help out the local business.
Cheers
Stephen

Thanks Stephen.
It always gets our attention when we see the
Silo Art title.
Just seems to get better all the time.
Cheers Stu.

Hi Stu
We have been following their progress since they were started, and it was great to be able to see them first hand, which meant a 500 plus kilometre return drive to see them.
If you are ever in the area, it is
well worth the drive to see them.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Outback Gazz
You are not wrong there, and when you see that Kelpie, you are waiting for it to bark.

Went for a drive to
Karoonda today, as I don't live that far away really and thought I'd have a look in real life. The attention to detail these artists put into their work is incredible - certainly puts my stick figure drawings to shame lol ha ha ha !
Loved the dog, just loved the dog - his name is Whiskey and here's a bit of info if the link works
Cheers

Howdy Stephen
Been a bit of a gypsy over the years but the last five have been just out of
Murray Bridge where it will be
home for quite a while as I have settled in nicely here.
Happy and safe travels

Hi Gazz
The
Murray Bridge area is a great place, and as you say,
Karoonda is right on your back door step.

Yes great artwork but then we are a little biased as the painting of the kelpie is the spitting image of our beloved "Ben" who passed away just weeks ago. We showed the artist who was on site completing the train section of the artwork a photo of Ben and thanked him for the beautiful memento of a quite emotional viewing. RIP Ben.

Thanks for posting Stephen
We visited the Victorian and NSW silos earlier in the year and will visit the four you mentioned in SA on the way to the Ultimate Muster at
Renmark.
See you both there.

Hope you dont mind, i open the edit image option on this photos and used the Advanced setting to paste the word
Karoonda as the Place tag to ensure these images all appear in
Places without you having to upload again.

Hi Michelle
I have add the site as a new
point of interest, at the actual GPS location of the silos.
When I went into the details for the town of
Karoonda, there were no images at all, so I have added other images of the town.
All Good

Thank you Stephen for adding the other images of the town to the listing - wonderful!
I didn't realise you had created a new listing for the
Karoonda Silo Art Site, silly me, I should have checked but I was just trying to respond swiftly to help save you the time/effort of uploading images again.
Did you know that if you upload images to the
Forum and you want them also in
Places you don't need to upload them again?
You just need to tag to the correct place name. So next time if you post the images into the
Forum first, just click the edit icon above each
pic - go into Advanced, and you'll see the
Forum Post ID is already tagged, so you then just start typing the name of Place tag you want to use, so in this case typing in
Karoonda Silo Art Site would have done it. Try it next time and let me know if you can sort it out. Just want to help save you some time/effort.
(EDIT fixed my typo)

Love the
silo art and the life like images are little short of brilliant - no more so than that Kelpie - the eyes are incredibly real. We were in sw Qld recently and came across this one at
Thallon near
St George. I didn't realise the
silo art had extended that far north. The viewing site doesn't lend to photography unfortunately. The silo operators are particularly strict about tourists coming onto the site.
