Plan on travelling from
Cobar to
Thargomindah (avoiding all highways and
Bourke).
Currently finding conflicting information on fuel availability along the route.
Can any confirm if there is Petrol (not Diesel) available at
Hungerford specifically please?

I went thru there in July last year. There is a fuel stop petrol and diesel in one of the 'back' streets. However as it was a Sunday it was closed.

I know you could get fuel at the pub, but just give them a call for your own peace of mind, as things can change without warning.

We had an unintended but enjoyable week at
Hungerford last year - trapped by floodwaters on the way to
Thargomindah and on to
Birdsville.
Yes, there was fuel at the pub then, and it's a good place for a stop-over, with a basic van park over the road behind the tennis courts.
Make sure you call over to the police station, where the friendly policewoman hand feeds a sizeable kangaroo
population on the Qld side of the dog fence, including a collection of orphaned joeys - a different approach to community policing !!
Also, there is fuel and a very reasonably priced little
supermarket at
Wanaaring, 200km south of
Hungerford; also worth a stop.

Lovely people at the pub and yes they have premium unleaded available. I go there to fill up 44's with the stuff for my plane. Cheers Toni
