Comment: Lyndhurst

Just read this on another forum
Lyndhurst roadhouse is now closed, so I rang the pub to be told that yes it has closed.
Nearest petrol south is Copley 35ks, or Maree, north , 80ks. Anyone planning on doing the Strzelecki track, you will now need just over 500ks fuel range
Anyone else confirm or deny this?

As far as I know the pub sells diesel but not petrol, so I assume that since the roadhouse has closed, people with petrol vehicles will be out of luck at Lyndhurst

Hi Chris, I can confirm from just over two weeks ago, the roadhouse at Lyndhurst is closed. Yes the pub sells diesel, they published a report in Westprint saying that they will be applying for a licence to sell petrol. Nearest petrol is of course, Copley and Leigh Creek, or Marree to the north. I am sure someone is going to be inconvenienced by the closure as there is still a big roadside sign, before Lyndhurst, advertising them as being "the last fuel stop before Innamincka....etc"

Bugger. They make great hamburgers at the roadhouse and you could get a free shower there as well.

I would have believed the pub if I had rung them, as said, that information was from another forum and just wanted it confirmed.

Chris - it's the way that you worded the initial post that made it sound like you had rung the pub. That's how I first read it and wondered why you would doubt the pub people and seek confirmation on here. Now I see that you were quoting the other forum - quote marks would have avoided the confusion.

we bought diesel from the pub 4 weeks ago. pumps are opposite the pub, go to the front bar they will sort it out. price was competitive, $1.72 from memory, $2.10 in Innaminka.
