If you have to use your windscrren wipers, it is almost enough to close the road, but it could dry out in a few hours too, if it is light.

Might be a short drive between Marree and William Creek but there is a bit to see along here too, so don't be surprised if it takes longer than you think. Numerous Ghan railway sidings, Mound Springs, Coward springs just to name a few (and Plane Henge).

I doubt you would make William Creek to Dalhousie via Mt Dare in one day, as mentioned there is a bit to see on the way to Oodnadatta such as more Ghan sidings and railway bridges, plus you need some time in Oodnadatta too, hopefully the Pink Roadhouse will still be open (Lynnie Plate is trying to get out and hopefully someone else will take over) and the museum in the railway station is worth at least an hour. If going via Mt Dare then don't take the Pedirka Road but follow the track via Eringa ruins, a beautiful waterhole here too, and when you reach Mt Dare, the day will be just about done. Mt Dare is a great spot with good camping, a great cool bar and good meals, so its worth stopping over. It is about 2-3 hours from Mt Dare to Dalhouisie Springs and you need at least half a day to enjoy a swim and visit the Ruins.
