This free
campsite is past the racetrack and is always open to campers (such as when the
Boulia Racecourse campground is closed). Turn east to go down to the river. No facilities here.
The river was named in memory of Robert O'Hara Burke of the Burke and Wills expedition. The Burke River rises in the Standish Range north of
Boulia. It flows south through
Boulia towards the
Simpson Desert in the
Lake Eyre Basin.
Lots of small camping spots scattered around the river.
