The wells were dug here in the 1930's to take advantage of a natural soak. In the Cobb and Co coaches era of the late 1800's the soak provided welcome water and was the point at which the dunes could be crossed. Walk a few hundred metres up onto the mobile sand dunes when its windy to savour their beauty.
