Cockatoo Creek is a wide and rocky
river crossing on the Old Telegraph Track and to navigate a safe passage across involves a bit of a zig zag. There are some deepish
rock holes that need to be avoided so walk this crossing first. The exit on the northern side has a short steep climb up an eroded clay bank. On the north side of the creek you'll find a
picnic shelter,
toilets and pleasant
campground.
August 2016 - 8 years later. The crossing hasn't changed but there is a lot of wear and tear on the clay bank exits. Southern exit is long and slippery through the rainforest growing on the fertile but clayey soils. Signs of heavy use at the
campground.
