William Joseph Brown was a PMG Linesman who was employed to maintain the
Overland Telegraph Line .
Failing to arrive back at Bramwell Station, Station owner Rod Heinemann and Aboriginal Stockman set out to retrace his steps. When they finally found William, he was still in his swag and it was believed that he may have suffer a heart attack and died in his sleep.
As there there nothing that could be done for the deceased, Williams was buried in his swag and to mark
the spot, his brush hook was placed over his grave to mark the exact spot and his final
resting place.
