Located in the
Jardine River National Park, Fruit Bat Falls provides a refreshing break from the dust. You can swim in the massive
pool under the falls or head upstream and take a dip in the many natural
spa pools.
The track ends at a
carpark which is a
day use area only with picnic tables,
toilets. Camping is not permitted here.
From the
carpark follow the instructions on the
information signboard to pick up the short walking track where you'll come to a
fork in the track and a boardwalk. Take the left turn for the best view of the falls and a further 35m walk to where you can swim in the natural
pool below the falls. Alternatively, at the
fork turn right and go beyond the boardwalk and follow Eliot Creek upstream for about 25m to natural
rock and small
spa pools.
The falls are created by the waters of Eliot Creek cascading off a large slab of
rock and dropping down to
the pool below. This creates a very wide curtain of waterfalls. The falls are not very high but the width and the huge
pool below are not only beautiful but easy for large numbers of people to enjoy together. Can get very crowded in the peak season here.
The nearest camping is at
Eliot Falls Camping Area.
