Leven Canyon is the deepest
limestone ravine in all of Tasmania. The Leven Canyon Floor Track is a short, steep, and magical walk into the heart of Leven Canyon less than an hour from
Devonport. The track is flat for the first few hundred metres before it dives steeply into the canyon to the base where the River Leven runs. The way down involves a lot of steps until you reach the
bridge over the river, where you can see the canyon in all its glory. This spot is called The Splits and you can do the return walk in an hour. You can extend your walk from the Splits by continuing up river to Devils Corner (or Devils Elbow) before returning along the same track. There are some rocky scrambles required during both the descent and ascent back to the
carpark.Distance 1.9km to
bridge return. Grade 3. No facilities. Elevation Gain 131m. If you add on Devils Corner then allow 2 hours.Winter or Early spring is best to experience the river at its most powerful.Hiking boots mandatory - the area is slippery and involves scrambling.
