campground is also adjacent to the
Murrumbidgee River and located only 15 km from the western edge of
Canberra.
Facilities: Separate areas for campers, vans, small private parties and organised groups (No onsite power,
dump point or sullage available). Potable water taps in grounds.
Bins, adequate flushing M/F
toilets, timed hot showers - 3 1/2 minutes - wheelchair access, and stainless wash-up facilities. Always open, and lit (yellow) at night. Free Electric and wood BBQs (limited firewood - ensure you bring your own or purchase from Rangers or
Camp Host). No generators. Pets not allowed. Maximum length of stay is two weeks. Fees apply - $10/person/night for Seniors. Others, $12/person/night; concession/students is $8/night. Fees can be paid to the Rangers,
campground host (if there) or left in the honesty box at
the entrance. Fill out details on envelope supplied, take and fill in tag, secure correct money in envelope and lodge in secure box. Attach tag to car or Van. Bookings not required - first in, first served! Call
Canberra Connect on 13 22 81 if you would like to know more.
Mobile reception is very limited or non-existent within the Cotter precinct. An emergency phone is located in the
campground near
Camp Host building.
Campground is good base in pleasant environment from which to explore
Canberra, if you don't like getting lost on the many ACT freeways. Watch the steel bollards on entry to and exiting from the area. I saw two vans do minor structural damage to their vans when exiting.
