At the end of the Mt McCall track a steep walking trail drops 300m down following the Franklin River Railway ruins to the river below where a gold mine once opperated on the opposite bank. Today it's used to resupply rafters but is a difficult climb, allowing 1+ hour return. Access via permit from Parks & Wildlife in Queenstown.
