Deep Creek, Eganstown Streamside Reserve is a must see when you’re in the
Daylesford area. A quiet, tranquil
picnic area is nestled in the 27-hectare reserve.Picnic tables and natural lawn offer a perfect place to relax amongst the towering Eucalypts.Follow the trail to find a short, steep track down into the historic gully, where the new mineral spring
hand pump offers fresh mineral water (opened July 2022).
Views of the old pump house give a snapshot of the site’s European history. Water from the spring was commercially bottled locally from the 1920s and later by O.T.Limited, a
Melbourne company who leased land from the Egan family to build the pump house.Walk the grassy steps to a creek side picnic table, a great place to practice mindfulness and further reflect on the site’s history.
Deep Creek marks the western limit of the first
John Egans Corinella Pre-emptive Right.
John Egan was one of the first settlers in the
Daylesford district. He obtained the lease for his run in 1848 and his family has lived in the area ever since.
