200 Mile Tank
Rest Area.
2 large water catchment tanks (with graffiti) and
bins. Very large
clearing, open area not much shade. In the 1930's prior to the construction of the NW Coastal Hwy, these tanks were one of a series of 8 tanks that were positioned along the "Ajana Track" from
Carnarvon to
Geraldton. Designed to provide water to travellers and to help measure distance. This tank site marks 200
miles from
Carnarvon (or the 113mile from
Geraldton). By the 1960s the road was more
well travelled and most of the tanks were removed.Using this site as an overnight
rest stop is permissible. Please use responsibly.
Water is unreliable.
