The Donnelly River boasts a spectacular natural environment where the river meets the sea. The Donnelly River settlement is a group of 42 holiday huts at the mouth of Donnelly River on WA’s remote south coast. There are no shops, roads, vehicles or powerlines. Mobile reception is patchy at best. The only way in and out is by boat. Hut owners frequently gather at the mouth of the river over sunset to share stories and a cold brew.
Local operators offer canoe camping tours for those that would like the experience of paddling the 15km from the
Donnelly Boat Landing area to the river mouth. There is also a boat cruise. The rivermouth is not always open to the sea and the river is full of fish and is safe swimming.
