Running Waters was previously more
well known to local who worked at nearby Woodie Woodie
mine as Eel
pool. It is a long, narrow channel of deep water that is warm due to the presence upstream of a
thermal spring.
The pool is in fact one of the many channels that make up the
Oakover River. The pristine waters are shaded by ancient paperbark trees and is safe for swimming.
While
the pool is accessible by vehicle, it is not suitable for towing caravans. There is a cleared area suitable for caravans about 500 metres before
the pool where the river valley begins.
