Lake Dartmouth is the reservoir formed by
the rock-fill
Dartmouth Dam on the
Mitta Mitta River. When full it contains almost 4,000 GL, a capacity designed back in the 70's to maintain enough water for irrigation along the Murray in a severe drought year. Tributaries include the Gibbo and Dart rivers and the Morass Creek in a total catcment of 3,600 square kilometres. Boating and fishing are allowed.
The lake was last full in 1996 and exceeded the FSL for 53 days. It was above the crest by 1.2 m causing a spill of 21 GL/day on October 5th of that year.
