Located just 2 km from the town centre of
Kununurra WA, Mirima Is a wonderland of mini-Bungle Bungles. With horizontal bedding, these unusual and dramatic dome shapes were formed by the erosion of quartz
sandstone by the waters of nearby Lily Creek.
Wildlife abounds, dominated by lizards and birds (in particular the white-quilled
rock pigeon) and at the right time of day,
rock wallabies.
There are three walking trails in the park:
(1) Demboong Banan Gap Trail is a short and easy 500 metres return walk with a view of
Kununurra town through
the Gap'.
(2) Looking at Plants Nature Trail, has trailside signs to help you get to know some plants & their use by Aboriginal people.
(3) The Derbe-gerring Banan
Lookout Trail is 800 metres return, with climbs of steep slopes and
views over the Ord Valley and Mieima
sandstone range.
