Waterfalls plunge from the plateau heights in this spectacular park. Giant grass trees and tall, open forest with stands of huge snow gums shelter abundant wildlife, including gliders, wallabies, eagles and rare owls. The higher altitude offers cool walks throughout the year and amazing
views northward towards the Liverpool Plains.
There are plenty of opportunities for picnicking, as
well as car-based, caravan and backpack camping at the western end of the park. Historic Brackens Cottage is available for accommodation - bookings essential.
Access 2 km east of Coolah, along Coolah Creek Road for 20 km of sealed road until park turnoff, then 10 km up some very steep grades to the undulating tops of the park. In wet conditions the roads can be slippery so a 4WD is necessary.
Camping areas at The Barracks and
The Pines are 2WD-accessible (see separate
Places listings in our Nearby
Places list for full details and links - booking fee applies but no daily camping fee).
