Historic Mundrabilla Station is a family owned and operated cattle station. Operating since 1872, Mundrabilla was one of the first stations settled in the area by William McGill and brothers Thomas Kennedy and William Kennedy. Following
John Forrest's very favourable reports on pastoral prospects in the southern Nullarbor areas the Western Australian government offered a reward to the first pioneer to establish a settlement in the potential pastoral land to the east. The partnership of Kennedy brothers and William McGill took up the challenge to establish the first sheep station on the Nullarbor. Leaving
Albany the party travelled 800
miles to Mundrabilla with 800 ewes, horses and 4 bullocks arriving on the 12th August 1872. Unfortunately for them, they were beaten by the Muir family who settled in
Eucla in March of 1872.
These days Mundrabilla is a very busy working cattle station. Mundrabilla Station's Livestock Transit yards are situated about 4km from Mundrabilla
Homestead and is a purpose built facility for spelling livestock for people travelling east west with horses and cattle. Camping and ablution facilities available.
