Part of the
Karijini national park, Hamersley
gorge is not on the main tourist route. This is a shame as it is a very attractive
gorge, providing an amazing example of
rock folding. It has clean blue swimming holes and a few stepped waterfalls. It is very easy to access, only a short, not too steep walk from the ample
parking area.
The decent to the Hamersley
Parking gorge is now bitumen with a
picnic area and amenities block. Still a kilometre or so of dirt from the Nanutarra Road to the descent. Walk down to
the gorge is
well constructed steps. Steep but very short. Once at the bottom continue to clamber up and over the rocks on the right until you come to the
Spa Pool and even further behind to locate the stream that feeds it.
