The gold rushes of the early 1850s attracted thousands of minus seeking their fortunes. This spring was discovered by Jim Paul who along with six others had been employed to remove the
debris from a flooded loosing plant in 1939. The committee of management claimed that
the springs produce the best spa water by government analysis. The mineral Springs at Vaughan are of the magnesium sodium bicarbonate type generally This mineral water is more saline than those located closer to the crest of the great dividing range Hepburn and Dalesford they also have a higher sulphate and chlorine concentration and those nearby Glen loose and most of the other Victorian mineral Springs at 6.99 the mineral water at Jim Paul’s is almost neutral in pH but is perfectly drinkable.
