Blanket bay is a pretty bay facing South East and partly protected by reefs. There are
toilet, picnic and camping facilities with limited access for camper trailers and no access for caravans. There is a narrow track leading on to
the beach for those with a 4wd wishing to launch a boat.
It is reached by turning off the Great Ocean Road on to the
Cape Otway Road. Blanket Bay Road is off to the left about 10km from the Great Ocean Road. About 1km along you pass through a
gate which may be locked if conditions are very wet. It is about another 5km to Blanket Bay. Blanket Bay Road is a mix of sand and gravel which ordinary cars can traffic most of the year. There are some small ruts in the road where care would have to be taken.
