Step inside and be immersed in an interactive paleontological journey discovering the creatures that roamed the Murgon region between 24 – 70 million years ago. A time when the forests rang with the sound of the first songbirds and the earliest mammals and marsupials shared their
home with ancient turtles, crocodiles and creatures that look nothing like they do today.
In the late 1980’s, fossils found near Boat Mountain just outside Murgon in Southern Queensland rocked the palaeontology world. 15 new fossil species discovered here were found to be 55 million years old, predating any other Eocene period fossils found in Australia by 20 million years.
