Information

Murgon… so named from an aboriginal word meaning ‘lily pond’… is located on the Bunya Highway approximately 245 kilometres north-west of Brisbane…just over 2.5 hours from city or sea. Murgon District has a population of approx. 3500 people. It is a town with great facilities and amenities.

The Murgon district has a lot to offer with amazing scenery and so much to see and do. The South Burnett enjoys a warm dry climate where clear starry nights give way to perfect sunny country days. Pack something a little warmer for winter evenings during the months of June, July and August.

The Murgon district is a diverse farming region including olive and grape growing, cattle grazing, pig production and various crop farming including peanuts, lucerne, cotton and duboisia plantations.
