Burke and Wills camped here on 8/2/1861. From
camp 117 to
camp 118 Wills was expecting to find evidence of
Gregory (an explorer) who had walked near here in 1856.
Gregory had also noted that the land was fertile. However they did not find any trace of it. They were now less than 36
miles from the ocean. The water in the river was brackish so they knew they were close.
