Burke & Wills Camp 29 - NSW

Burke and Wills arrived at Phelp's Tarcoola station on 25/9/1860. It was here that Burke abandoned the wagons and loaded supplies onto the horses and camels. As the wagons were slower it was not until they arrived at Camp 29 on 4/10/1860 that the unloading took place. By this time Burke had establish Camp 30 closer to Pooncarrie and the supplies were transferred bit by bit by the paddle-steamer Moolgewanke.The weather was wet and ground muddy so it took longer than anticipated. The actual camp site is on private property and not accessable. the camp site is on the left bank of the picture.
